Hello Sprint Boat Owners & Teams,
We recently had some questions brought to our attention and we wanted to take this opportunity to make sure everyone in the racing fleet had the chance to hear the answers to these questions.
"What are the NASBA fees for?"
North American Sprint Boat Association is the “club” which sanctions with the APBA and “puts on the race” at Webb’s Slough. Club dues and race entry fees help to cover a portion of the race operating expenses. We pay APBA sanctioning fees and insurance premiums for a $5 million policy for each regatta. Other expenses are; secretary wages to process all APBA paperwork necessary for racing, race official compensation and ABPA individual insurance for each safety crew (island hoppers and launching Jeeps) at each regatta. Club memberships and race entry fees do not cover the yearly basic expenses that are required to provide teams with a world-class racing experience. Webb's Slough pays "sanctioning fees" to NASBA to alleviate the burden of requiring race teams to pay higher membership fees and race entry fees to cover the balance of yearly expenses.
"Paying membership fees to 3 different Clubs is frustrating."
We understand the frustration of having to be members of potentially 3 different clubs. The formation of NASBA was heavily contemplated in 2018. At which time, it was in the best interest of Webb’s Slough's future that a new Club was formed with neutral leadership. Every decision NASBA and Webb’s Slough makes is with the race teams at the forefront.
"How much money is available to win at Webb's Slough?"
Webb’s Slough has paid out over $5,000 in prize money at each race since the first race in 2007. In 2023 Webb's Slough was able to increase the prize purse to over $10,000 each race!
Paid in each class: 1st: $1,250, 2nd: $800, 3rd: $680, 4th: $250 Fastest Qualifier: $250
Plus other cash prizes are awarded for early paperwork completion, attending the show & shine and team spirit.
This same $10,000+ prize purse was paid out at both June & August 2024 races at Webb's Slough!
"Why is Webb's Slough charging race teams for a vendor space?"
Webb’s Slough charges a fee to all vendors that setup in the Vendor Row area and each vendor fills out a contract/agreement in order to produce a professional event atmosphere. Race team vendor fees are a fraction of retail and food vendor fees. Each racer retail vendor also receives 2 all-acces passes (a $100 value) with their space. All race teams are permitted to sell their merchandise out of their pit area at no charge. This opportunity to sell merchandise to fans in the Pits is available when the Pits are open to spectators on Thursday, Friday and Saturday after the race.
Please reach out to Matt & Amanda Webb if you have ideas or questions that have not been answered here.
